Any collegiate team member
may be provided rooming on a first-come basis in a private home at no charge on
Tuesday (if playing in the
scramble), Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
collegiate/amateur scramble: This year we will be holding a scramble for all of our
Sponsors. Each team will consist of
4 Amateurs and 1 Collegiate
Player. Each player will receive lunch,
dinner and a tournament favor.

The tournament is
limited to the 150 players with the lowest VERIFIABLE USGA handicaps. Entrants
will be
notified by mail of tournament acceptance. The
Tournament Committee reserves the right to accept or reject
any entry. Rental carts must be reserved and
paid for at time of entry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To enter the tournament,
return the official application with a check payable to "Spirit of America
Classic" for $225.00
or $265.00 (includes golf cart).
Entries are limited to male golfers 16 years of age or older by
Tee times for Thursday, July
1st, will be published in the Wednesday, July 1st edition of the Decatur Daily and on the Burningtree
Country Club website.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The tournament will be 72
holes of stroke play, with 54-hole cut to Low 50 and Ties. The Tournament Champion will be the player
with the lowest 72-hole score. The Junior Champion will be the junior player
(age 16-17) having the lowest 54-hole score. The Collegiate Champions will be
the two man team with the lowest 54-hole team score. USGA rules will govern all
play except where modified by the local rules. The tournament is
points-sanctioned by the Alabama Golf Association and the Titleist/Golfweek
National Amateur Ranking for men.
Collegiate
Teams of two will be
competing for the Collegiate Team Division Championship. Schools are allowed to
enter more than one team and designate them as Team #1, #2, etc.
Each Collegiate may be a member of only one team. The team score will be the combined total score of
the two team members for the 54 holes played.
CLUB USE
Entrants and spouses or dates
are guests of Burningtree Country Club and are welcome to use all facilities.
Spouses or dates are included in the entry fee for parties and dinner at no
additional charge.
PRACTICE ROUNDS
Practice rounds will be
permitted Wednesday, June 30th. Call the Pro Shop at (256) 355-5982
for available times.
